Parapenting, Hang gliding and Fantasticable

During the summer months several of the chair lifts and cable cars in the Portes du Soleil ski lift system are operated mainly to provide easy access to the mountains for walkers and mountain bikers, however they also welcome visitors wishing to try jumping off a cliff.

Even if you have never tried hang gliding or parapenting before you will find experienced local fliers willing to give you an experience you will never forget, and a view of the stunning scenery which is quite unmatched.

Finally "Fantasticable" is the latest way the locals have found to terrify visitors. Its simple really - you head to the top ski lift station at Pre la Joux. Dangle yourself in a harness tied to a cable tethered to a boulder way down on the other side of the valley and let go. The further you go, the boulder and two christmas trees which you had not spotted before, start to get awfully large and awfully close, and there is nothing you can do about them and at the last moment a bungy cord brings you rapidly to a halt.

Keen types then hook onto a second wire returning across the valley.

With the round trip of over 2.5km this has to be the ultimate death slide - with travellers routinely attaining speeds approaching 100kph (60mph+)  as they hurtle across the valley. Its total madness and lots of people are queing up to pay good money for this...
