With more than 100 shops, there is a wide variety of goods and services available locally.
There are of course plenty of places to buy/hire ski & snowboard equipment and clothing. Vertical Horizons - based near the Linga lift station offer residents in the chalet special hire rates for winter and summer mountains sports equipment.
You will also find the wide choice of ski and
snowboarding schools including ESF, the International Ski & Surf School, Henri Gonon
Courses, Francis Sports Ski School, The Snow Ride Ski School & The Virage Ski School
should ensure that all grades and ages are catered for.
If you are interested in more personal lessons we have a special
arrangement with Ecole Ski International who can be contacted via Vertical Horizons.
For younger visitors "Le village des Marmottons" offers creche facilities for children between 2 and 3 a whole host of indoors and outdoors fun and games. Older children from 3 to 10 years will be able to join in the fun with their own ski school in a special reserved area equipped with its own snow making facilities.
Alternatively "Les Mini-Montagnards" just two minutes from the chalet offers parents with kids in ski school, very flexible options to look after kids and drop them off/collect them from their ski lessons allowing their parents to have a full day on the slopes. They can even provide lunch and their large premises include a wide range of indoor play options if the weather is poor.
Chatel is a big resort, so you will also find all the usual suspects including a Town Hall, Tourist Information Office, Post Office, Police, Fire and Ambulance Services, 3 Banks (with cash machines taking UK VISA/Switch), Service Stations, Doctor, Dentist, Optician, Nurse & Physiotherapists surgeries, Catholic Church. And a whole heap of retail outlets offering crafts, gifts, souvenirs etc, a florist, newsagents, beautician, hairdressers, and a host of other trades, plus of course the weekly market in the centre of town.
In addition there are 2 cinemas with normally one english language film per week, 2 discos, a bowling alley, a floodlight outdoor ice-rink, numerous bars, tabacs and restaurants.
