ACCOMMODATION
Chalet Val d'Abondance was originally built in the 70's as a hotel in traditional Swiss style. The chalet was purchased by the Club in 1998 and has been extensively upgraded and refurbished, and now offers a good range of modern comforts. Double-glazing, full insulation and centrally controlled underfloor heating ensures the chalet is warm and snug whatever the weather outside. New carpeting has been fitted throughout the building. The rooms are light and airy; featuring a mix of local pine cladding and traditional crepe wall finishes.
There is an attractive lounge/bar area with a wood burning stove which acts as a magnet for weary skiers after a day on the slopes, whilst those still with energy will enjoy the separate games area downstairs with pool table, Satellite TV, DVD, video, and Playstation games. Feel free to bring your kids favourite game out with you.
All meals are prepared by our chef in the large kitchen complex and are served in the adjoining dining room, which offers fine views down the valley.
The sleeping accommodation is modern and spacious. Whilst brochures tend to refer to "bedrooms", ours are closer to separate apartments, and range in size from 2 to 6 people. Each "bedroom" has a master bedroom with ensuite facilities and a double/ twin beds. In the four person "bedrooms", there is room for two additional people in a separate bunk bedroom, whilst the largest family rooms have a flexible open plan layout with a double bed and accommodation for up to four further people on bunk beds. A children's cot can be supplied in family rooms. Tea and coffee making facilities are available at all times in the main clubroom.
The ski/boot room has its own entrance from the car park, allowing people to take their ski boots off indoors without trailing snow through the building. You will find racks to store your boards, boots and skis overnight, and the connecting door conveniently leads directly to the bar and the start of your evening's apres-ski. To protect the carpets and stairs we ask you not to wear ski boots indoors.
There is plenty of room for vehicles in the car parks at the front and rear of the building.
There is of a comprehensive fire alarm and smoke detector system and an external fire escape serving all floors at the rear of the building.
Smoking is not permitted in the chalet.
We very much hope you will enjoy a relaxing stay, but if you really
must, there is a payphone in the clubroom 0033 450 733662 and staff can provide access to
fax and email facilities. There is also wireless
internet access in the building and a workstation with internet access available in the
games room. Use of the internet and IT facilities is at the clubs discretion and subject
to compliance with the club's acceptable use policy.
